The Plot:
Can getting stranded in a creepy
house full of abandoned cats turn
these enemies into friends—or even
something more?
Holly jumps at the chance to go on a
mission to rescue dozens of cats stranded
in a remote house. But she did not agree
to make the road trip with Dustin, her
coworker, rival, and biggest headache.
Dustin has given up trying to get
Holly to like him. Still, a long drive and an
overnight in a house full of cats might bring them together—or
result in his violent demise.
But what they find is worse than they ever imagined—no
lights, no heat, a snowstorm raging, and over twenty hungry,
skittish cats. They‘ll have to work as a team to survive and save
the animals.
One thing is certain—if they make it back alive, their relationship
won‘t be the same.

An Excerpt
These cats would be all right here for a while. Some were at
the food dishes. Others explored the room or found places to
nap.
But Holly and Dustin still had to search for stragglers.
She wasn‘t afraid. It was a big, empty house, that was all. No
ghosts or serial killers. Still, they should stick together.
―I‘ll go with you.‖ She glanced down. Merlin sat between
their feet, gazing at the woodstove, which glowed in the thin
gaps around the doors. ―We can take him, in case we need a
translator.‖
Dustin looked relieved, but he asked, ―You‘re sure?‖
She held her hand over the pot of water, but it didn‘t feel any
warmer than the surrounding air. Maybe by the time they got
back, it would be ready for noodles.
―Yes,‖ she said. ―Let‘s check the rest of the house.‖
