MARIE TUHART (Cont.) INTERVIEW MFRW: MT: MFRW: MT: MFRW: MT: MFRW: MT: 5 Would you like to write a different genre or sub-genre than you do now? Paranormal Romance. For years, I have worked off and on with the two paranormal worlds I want to build. the patio when I notice this gazebo and then a table and chairs. My mind went—what a nice place for a wedding. The opening to a book began forming in my head. I took lots of pictures of the area so when I‟m ready to write that scene I can refer to them. What do you do to relax and recharge your batteries? I read and play games on my tablet. I will fi- nally watch a show I‟ve been wanting to watch or a movie. How many books have you written, how many have been published? I‟ve written fifteen novels, and four short sto- ries. Twelve of my novels have been published, as well as all four short stories. Which comes first, the story, the characters, or the setting? Ninety-nine percent of the time the characters come to me first, I almost always start with characters. But last year while traveling over- seas, I was in Ireland and was sitting outside on MFRW: MT: Are you in control of your characters or do they control you? That depends on the book. I‟ve had characters who go along with what ever I‟m writing, and then I‟ve had others that refuse. I‟ve actually written stuff and stopped because I‟m like “How did that happen?” and the character is like—see I don‟t tell you everything, now fol- low my lead. It‟s rewarding and fun, but can drive me crazy when it takes the story in a dif- ferent direction from my plan.
