L. B. JOYCE (Cont.) AN UNEXPECTED JUNE BLURB EXCERPT It‟s not looking good for Livy Mazzori. She lost her job. Then she lost the man she gave six years of her life. So, it‟s time to leave New York. Yes, she‟s almost thirty and running away… but back home this time. Sam Bridges is a big part of the draw. She met him last November when he was in New York. Since then, he‟s been a persistent reminder in her mind of how things could be different. Maybe a good different? Sam is bewildered by his feelings for Livy. It doesn‟t make sense since she led him to believe she isn‟t inter- ested... not by a long shot. He hopes to figure it all out when she comes home for her sister Carrie‟s wedding. One little problem… he‟s pretty sure she‟s back with her boyfriend Zack... The cars in front of them came to a sudden stop, bringing Sam to slam on the brakes, while at the same time, he instinctively reached over to hold his arm protec- tively in front of her. This made him smile, recalling how the same thing had happened during their drive from the gas station. The day she came home. And now look how far they‟d come. The traffic now at a complete standstill, he sneaked another glance over at Livy to see she had a faint smile on her face. This made him think she might be reliving the same memory. He cleared his throat. “That was some crazy day, was- n‟t it?” Believe it or not, Livy really had been thinking the same exact thing. Her breath catching in surprise, she glanced over at him. She just didn‟t get it… how was it, he always seemed to know exactly what was on her mind? His eyes on the traffic, he maneuvered the SUV into the next lane. He chuckled. “Your face gives you away, sweetheart. Every single time. You‟re not very good at hiding what you‟re thinking.” He shot her a quick smile. “At least not with me.” Reviews Welcome. 7
