KAYELLE ALLEN (Cont.) INTERVIEW MFRW: KA: MFRW: KA: MFRW: KA: 5 Why did you decide to write romance novels? I wanted to write science fiction, but the pub- lish rate was about two percent. Dismal. When I discovered a “new” genre called science fic- tion romance, I decided to write my series as romance novels instead. I’ve since self- published and have both sci-fi and sci-fi ro- mance. How much of your personality and life experi- ences are in your writing? Life changes our perspectives. I’d be lying if I answered this as none. Tell us about your latest book. What motivated the story? Where did the idea come from? Where do your story ideas usually come from? This story was motivated by the need to under- stand my villain. Once I started writing his back story, I realized he wasn’t a villain at all. Ideas fly at me out the ether. I can’t avoid them. MFRW: KA: MFRW: KA: Do you feel humor is important in fic- tion and why? It’s vital. Bringer of Chaos: Forged in Fire is a serious book with a great deal of angst. All my books are. They also have scenes where you will laugh out loud. What about your family? Do they know not to bother you when you are writing, or are there constant interruptions? Are they, especially your significant other, supportive of your work? Do you ever ask them for advice? My husband is the most supportive man on the planet. He does not interrupt me but will check to see if I need anything. You know, like a kiss. Of course, I always do!
