The Why
Currently an estimated $170 million dollars in medical services and $200 million of retail
sales leave the island of St Croix every year. Government and other services are scattered
throughout the island, and St Croix does not have a mall or retail property, offering a
central covered location in which to shop, dine, be entertained and do business.
Projected direct job growth from post hurricane investment, the reopening of the refinery
and petroleum facility will see a return to the island of many St Crucians as well as the
growth of inbound population looking for goods and services locally. Non-direct job
growth could reach as high as 3 fold of the direct jobs which a potential 6 fold increase in
population.
