Executive Summary Continuous Glucose Monitoring ( CGM ) is a small glucose sensor ( electrodes ) inserted under the skin that keeps in check the glucose levels in interstitial fluid . The sensor stays in body for several days to a week before being replaced . A transmitter that is placed on the body sends information about the level of glucose via radio waves from the sensor to a wireless monitor that could be in the form of a wristband or it could be an app on the smartphone that allows the patient to view their glucose measurements . The CGM system basically has been designed to target the type1 diabetic population , for the early detection of hypo and hyperglycemia .
