The Heritage Capital Fund
Investing in excellence
Maritzburg College enjoys many unique traditions and enviable strengths, but one that
stands out above all others is its Old Boys community! They have been instrumental in
most of the improvements that have been introduced over the last 12 years. Over this
time, more than R20m has been invested in capital projects, involving facilities such as
new classrooms, staff houses and the Ron Jury Indoor Sports Centre.
Why is the Heritage Capital Fund important?
Maritzburg College settled at its current location in 1888, and since then has developed
into a school campus full of history and heritage, complete with facilities that match
those of the most well-resourced schools in SA. However, like any progressive
organisation, we will need to continue to make new investments in the campus. To this
end, it is essential that we continue to build a capital reserve fund to finance future
developments and ensure that we can maintain these facilities.
There are a number of infrastructural and capital projects at Maritzburg College that
require financial support if they are to be realised. These projects have been identified
through an intensive strategic planning process involving the school and all its
stakeholders, and a long term development plan has been put in place.
