community and making art that can
change the world.
Miller expresses the organization’s
shared philosophy in this way:
“People join our vision because they
believe in the mission we are after.
That’s what attracts other artists to
work with us—so they can grow.
The vision and the clarity of the
mission is why people are coming
on board—because they want to be
a part of it.”
Miller and her husband left New
York and moved to Glen Ellen
to work for TTC year-round.
They create the shows and do a
lot of outreach projects, while
others do the arrangements and
orchestrations; they still don’t have
all the staff they need.
In addition to performances, TTC
does outreach to many nonprofit
organizations for children, teens
and seniors. This summer they are
beginning a year-long partnership
with Boys & Girls Clubs of America,
which is being funded by the
Rotary Club of Sonoma Valley, a
Transcendence Kids Camp, and
performing for seniors at memory
care facilities in Sonoma County.
They also sponsor open mic nights,
and have been the recipient of
foundation grants, and individual
and bank sponsors.
The next production of Broadway
Under the Stars is slated for June
16th, and runs through September
10th. And as one who has witnessed
the excitement and thrill of these
young people bringing the Best of
Broadway to the stage, it is a not-
to-be missed experience.
“It’s been a 10-year journey of
transcendence—going after and
believing in dreams,” says Miller
enthusiastically, adding that the
entire effort has been a “non-stop
wonderful adventure.”
