LETTER FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
Welcome to some warmer weather ! We are finally starting to get a little bit of growth and recovery in the worn areas of the golf course . This is an important month for the maintenance staff . We will be putting out our first wall to wall application of fertilizer with preemergent for this season . This application will help keep a lot of the weeds we struggle with on property from sprouting and growing throughout the spring . These weeds include goosegrass , crabgrass , and tropical signal grass . They have increasingly been difficult to treat and remove from the bermudagrass because of the resistance they have built up to the current herbicides that are on the market . This is the reason that we need to stop them before they get a chance to start growing .
The detail aspects of the golf course have been coming along a little slower than anticipated , but we were able to trim a lot of trees in some key areas to help with sunlight and air movement . It was a long time coming for some of these areas , so some of the trees may look a little awkward . They will flush back out this season allowing us to do more proper pruning techniques for a better shape and growth pattern of the tree moving forward .
Some of the improvement on the course will really start taking shape in the next month or two . We will continue to show up every day and give it our all for the club . The weather is beautiful , and the course is playing good , so get out and enjoy it !
