TOP : Sudhi Baumberger ( left ) and her sister Geri Hill ( right ) traveled to the original Bee Hill on their family farm last summer . Although Geri still helps with BeeHill Sisters on occasion , she now focuses on creating fine art . MIDDLE : This calendula is one of the many herbs Sudhi grows in her garden to be used in her skincare products . BOTTOM : BeeHill Sisters has a wide variety of skincare products that are all-natural and chemical-free .
“ I buy everything organic that I possibly can ,” said Sudhi .
To make skincare products , Sudhi begins by making sure all the herbs are completely dry . Then she equally distributes the herbs desired in a glass jar and completely covers them with olive oil .
This mixture sits in a cool , dark place for a few months and is gently shaken to redistribute the properties . Once the oil has absorbed as much as it needs to , Sudhi presses it to remove the residue .
When making cream , Sudhi melts all the oil mixtures together on low heat . Then once it is cooled , she emulsifies it with a water mixture in a stainless steel Vitamix .
“ It ’ s really not that hard . You don ’ t have to be a chemist or a scientist ,” said Sudhi . “ A person who doesn ’ t have a lot of background in herbs can gather information very quickly .”
Sudhi ’ s first product was Phenominal Balm . This name came about due to a good friend who kept saying it was “ phenomenal .” The product is an oil mixture that is very healing according to Sudhi .
Next , Sudhi created the Phenominal Cream . This product has the same 12-herb-base as the balm . However , Sudhi explained that the cream soaks in a little better because of the water mixture included and adds additional healing properties .
Nomi Butter is also from the Phenominal line . This product has a thicker consistency and is a wonderful moisturizer for hands and feet .
A new product soon to join the Phenominal line is Mina Cream , which is designed to be an ultra moisturizer .
Sudhi also crafted a cream that is perfect for sensitive skin called Ageless Baby . Originally created as a baby cream , this product has a few drops of a calming essential oil in it .
Nevertheless , the product ’ s delicate nature has it gaining popularity among adults and children alike .
“ All of my products are very healing because of the herbal content ,” said Sudhi .
Additionally , Sudhi said , “ The products absorb a bit slowly because they do not include alcohol , so you hardly need any to start with . You can always add more if needed .”
Sudhi makes her skincare products in small batches to ensure their quality and freshness , and the labels clearly list all the ingredients in the product .
“ I take a lot of care in the preparation and oversee that everything has integrity ,” said Sudhi .
Since they do not have added stabilizers , these skincare products will separate if exposed to extreme heat or cold . They are also best if used within six months to a year .
To further increase the quality of her products , Sudhi uses intention during the preparation process by labeling the jars of herbs with words like joy , love , healthy and peace . In doing so , Sudhi explained that her products are instilled with love and blessings .
