Paul Fortin
PAUL FORTIN
GROVETON–Paul Parker
Fortin, 51, of Second Street in
Groveton, died on Saturday,
March 5, 2016 due to injuries
received in a snowmobile accident.
Paul was born on Jan. 24,
1965 in Brunswick, Maine a son
of Joseph Fortin, Jr. and Geraldine (Gerow) Fortin and has been
a resident of Groveton most of his
life.
Paul worked in the logging
industry running a skidder and
was a very hard worker. He
enjoyed watching racing, playing
cards, fishing and snowmobiling.
He is survived by his four
children, Angela Fortin of Michigan; Geralin Fortin of Orleans,
Vt.; Gerin Fortin of Irasburg, Vt.;
and Jaemind Fortin of Groveton;
seven siblings, Helen Lynch of
Idaho; Joe Fortin of Stratford;
Theresa Fortin and Tony Fortin,
both of Groveton; Howard Hart
of Pennsylvania; Rick Hart of
Brunswick, Vt.; and Bonnie
Bouchard of Maine; numerous
nieces and nephews.
Paul was predeceased by his
father, Joseph Fortin, Jr; mother
Geraldine (Gerow) Hart; stepfather Ernie Hart; one sister
Jean Hart.
There will be no services at
this time. A celebration of Paul’s
life will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to the care
of
the
Armstrong-Charron
Funeral Home in Groveton.

Joe Lacasse
JOE LACASSE
COLEBROOK–Joseph A. Lacasse, 81, passed away at his
home in Colebrook on Thursday,
March 3, 2016, after a lon g battle
with diabetes and other failing
health issues.
Joe was born in West Stewartstown on Nov. 19, 1934, and was
raised on his family’s homestead
on Cates Hill Road in Berlin.
More recently, he had lived in
Clarksville and Colebrook.
Joe was a caring man who
took care of those around him,
including his elderly relatives
who lived with him on the farm–
his mother Florence, his Aunt
Mable, Uncle Pete, and a disabled cousin, Marion, all of
whom have predeceased him. He
worked hard as a logger and
farmer, and he also worked in
local sawmills, and for many
years was employed at the Coös
County Farm in West Stewartstown.
In 1990, Joe met Carol Coulombe, and they were married in
a civil ceremony on the farm.
They loved to go to the East
Thetford, Vt., livestock auctions
with Carol’s daughters to purchase animals for their 4-H projects. Joe loved to take his family
to the local fairs to show their
animals.
He also loved to
“twitch” wood the old-fashioned
way with his horse, Tyroan. In
keeping with doing things the old
way, Joe and his wife and daughters could be seen pitching hay
with pitchforks in the summer
months.
He leaves behind his wife,
Carol Coulombe, of Clarksville;
a son, Joey Shaw Lacasse; stepchildren, Crystal Godin of
Sebring, Fla., Heather Lizzie
Stephenson of Glen, Wayne and
Geneva Ploudrier of Manchester;
a grandson, Brian Shaw; two
granddaughters, Crystal and
Kristen; five great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces,
nephews and cousins.
There are no public calling
hours. A memorial Mass will be
celebrated at a later date at the
convenience of Joe’s family, of
which notice will be given.

BEVERLY E. PHILLIPS
LANCASTER–Beverly
E.
Phillips, 83, of Water Street, died
Thursday afternoon, March 3,
2016 at Country Village Genesis
Healthcare Center, Lancaster.
Phillips was born in Lancaster on June 13, 1932 the
daughter of Albert and Gladys
(Palmer) Flynn. She has been a
lifelong resident of Lancaster
graduating from Lancaster Academy in 1950.
Through the years she worked
at various area hotels and was
employed eight years with the
Bock Company in Lancaster. For
13 years she was employed with
the dietary department at Weeks
Medical Center. She also cleaned
for the SAU 36 offices. Beverly
enjoyed crocheting and bird
watching. She loved her cat and
often cared for strays. Many will
remember her as a frequent vendor at local flea markets.
She was a member of the
Lancaster Historical Society and
the AARP.
Surviving family members
include her son Timothy A. Phillips of Lancaster; three nephews,
Ken Phillips and Roger Phillips
both of Lancaster and Kevin
Brown of Vermont. She was predeceased by her husband Harry
A. Phillips in 2009 and her sister
Pearl Phillips in 2015.
At Beverly’s request there are
no visiting hours. A graveside
service will be held in the spring
in Summer Street Cemetery.

Mark S. Morrison
MARK S. MORRISON
STEWARTSTOWN–Mark S.
Morrison, 66 of 621 Bishop Brook
Rd, died peacefully on Monday,
Feb. 29, 2016 at the Veterans
Hospital in White River Junction, Vt.
Mark was born on February
20, 1950 to Carroll J. Morrison
and Grace E. Cohenno (Dykeman) in Brockton Ma. Mark
graduated from Stoughton High
School.
Mark served in the U.S. Navy
from January of 1973 to September of 1981. He served in both
Vietnam and the first Persian
Gulf War. Mark was a refrigeration and HVAC repairman for
many years, most notable with
Westinghouse.
He was a member of The
Grand Lodge of New Hampshire
as a Master Mason.
Throughout his entire life he
enjoyed the outdoors of northern
New Hampshire. He was an avid
fisherman and hunter. In 2010
his interest turned to gardening
to keep active. Within two years
he had grown his small garden
into a full time job. His story can
