Answer: Spring is the perfect time to refresh your dog’ s grooming routine and help them stay comfortable and healthy. After months of winter coats and muddy paws, a little extra care goes a long way. Start with a thorough brushing. Many dogs shed heavily in spring as they lose their winter coat, so regular brushing helps remove loose fur, prevents matting, and improves airflow to the skin. Long-haired breeds may benefit from a trim, but avoid shaving unless recommended, as a dog’ s coat helps regulate body temperature. Bath time is another spring essential. Use a dog-specific shampoo to remove dirt, allergens, and odors that can build up over winter. Be sure to dry your dog completely, especially around the ears and paws. Trim nails to prevent discomfort on longer outdoor walks, clean ears to reduce the risk of infections, and brush teeth to support overall health. Spring is also a good time to check for fleas and ticks and talk to your vet about preventative care.
