CCC President’ s Corner By ANNE SHEVLIN
Consider applying to join the country club board My column is late getting to the editor this month and here I sit in mid-February watching the snow come down in Charbonneau, pondering about what to write. The weather forecast is foreboding. The outside temperature is in the low 30s, snow is accumulating now and frozen rain and ice are expected later today. Yet I feel cozy and safe and

I am grateful. Charbonneau residents received
two email messages from our staff in the last 24 hours, outlining the steps that are being taken to keep us safe during this period of inclement weather, and, if an emergency arises, we are told what to expect. We are informed that members of our Emergency Preparedness & Public Safety( EPPS) committee are at the ready to fire up the generator in the event of a power outage. If necessary, the Activity Center will be turned into a warming shelter, a place to run medical devices or to refrigerate medications. All of this work is carried out through the leadership of

our volunteer residents who serve on the EPPS committee, and our Community Safety Coordinator Neil Kennedy. Each of our 13 individual HOA communities have a representative on the committee. This group meets regularly to run drills and review disaster scenarios in order to plan for a variety of emergencies. Medically trained residents, including retired doctors, nurses, pharmacists and physical therapists stand at the ready to respond to medical emergencies in a disaster. I am grateful for the incredible effort that all of these individuals put forward in order to keep us aware and prepared.
Volunteers are what keeps Charbonneau humming along, like a well-oiled machine. Individuals from throughout our community put in time to assure that both our monetary and physical assets are well-managed, that we receive timely information via the direction of the Communication Committee, that we have activities that keep us entertained, informed, and learning, and that the appearance of our beautiful campus is maintained to a high standard. New residents are welcomed and given directions on how to navigate this“ cruise ship on land” that we call Charbonneau. Favorable relations are maintained between the Charbonneau Country Club Board of Directors and the Charbonneau Golf Club board, each recognizing the importance of mutually supporting one another to the benefit of the entire community. Our collective

voice is carried to the state capitol in Salem when legislation is pending that may impact our community. In short, we have a lot of good people doing a lot of good work in Charbonneau.
I will close this month’ s article with a call for volunteers. The 12-member CCC board has three openings each year. Incumbents often run again and may complete two three-year terms before taking a required break, but I personally know of at least one board position that will be vacant this year. I encourage anyone who is interested in joining the team to please stop by the office and pick up a packet for a board position. Elections are held in April-May; board members will be seated at the annual meeting on May 21, followed by the installation of new officers. Putting in time on the board is a very rewarding way to give back to this lovely community. An added benefit is that you get to make new friends, be“ in the know” about how Charbonneau works and to contribute to the well-being of our community. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to General Manager Jim Meierotto at jim @ charbonneaucountryclub. com or to me at a. shevlin @ charbonneaucountryclub. com. Either Jim or I would be happy to answer your questions and provide a little encouragement. Charbonneau is a great place to live and play. Please consider volunteering your time to make it even better!

How to search the CCC Resident Directory online By TED MAST Charbonneau resident
Did you know that you can easily search the Charbonneau Country Club Resident Directory while browsing the CCC website? At this month’ s CCC Board meeting, a knowledgeable resident shared a helpful tip on how to quickly locate information within the directory.
To begin, locate the resident portal in the upper right-hand corner of the home page. A resident must be verified as a legitimate user of the“ private” information, which can take up to 24 business hours for acceptance. Once verified and logged into the resident section of the website, navigate to the tab labeled“ Our Community” and select“ Resident Directory.”
Once at the resident directory, look for the magnifying glass icon located just below the cover page. Simply click on it, enter the name you are searching for and press the search button. In an instant, the desired name appears along with the pertinent information.
In addition to searching by name, you can also locate residents using their phone
number or address. While the directory is currently being redeveloped, the 2023 version remains available and fully searchable for your convenience. A copy of the directory can also be downloaded to your local device, where it remains searchable offline.
Please note that only verified residents have access to the directory details.
Take advantage of this useful feature to quickly find the information you need within the CCC resident directory.
Please send directory info
To the 75 % of Charbonneau households who have sent in your directory information, thank you. To the rest of you, please fill out the sheet that was sent to you or get a copy from Kristine at the front desk. We want the print version of our directory to be as complete as possible and new software tools will enable you to quickly find your friends and neighbors electronically in our Resident Portal section of the website. Even if your information has not changed since the red book from 2023, please fill out the form so that we know it is up to date. Thank you.
