JSAMS Students Make a Broader Impact through Clubs by Erin Bonsell , JSMS Asst . Principal
Middle School is a critical period of self-discovery and personal development , and one of the most impactful ways for students to engage with their school community is by joining a club . At Jersey Shore Area Middle School ( JSAMS ), students are encouraged to " Come Alive " by exploring their passions and interests in a supportive and dynamic environment . The school fosters this spirit of exploration by offering a diverse array of clubs that help students develop both personally and academically , giving them the tools to pursue their future goals .
At the start of each school year , JSAMS students are invited to select from 16 different clubs and activities , ensuring that there is something for everyone . From creative outlets to academic challenges , each club offers unique opportunities for growth and collaboration . Students meet with club advisors every other Wednesday for 45 minutes , where they dive into the topics and projects that spark their enthusiasm . Whether it ' s working on planning a school-wide event or finding ways to help our community members , these activities empower students to explore their interests and build lasting connections with peers and staff members .
Not only do our Middle School students have the opportunity to explore common interests and engage with fellow middle school students , but students find ways to make a difference ! Our clubs engage in a wide range of community service and school-wide initiatives , giving students the chance to create positive change . To name a few , the Military Support Club fills Easter eggs and sends them to deployed service members , while the Healthy Hearts Club organizes a " Hats for Hearts Day ," with all proceeds benefiting the American Heart Association . The Committed Christians Club ( C3 ) supports Operation Christmas Child by filling shoeboxes with essential items for children in need . The Outdoor Club takes pride in cleaning up local parks and overseeing recycling efforts , while Student Council organizes spirit days and events like Pajama Day to raise funds for children in need of beds through Sleep in Heavenly Peace . Additionally , the Future Business Leaders of America ( FBLA ) collaborates with the high school FBLA program to organize food drives and attend local , state , and national competitions . Bullpup Memories ( Yearbook club ) attends a variety of school events to collect pictures and narratives to design and promote the school ’ s yearbook .
Through these initiatives , JSAMS students not only grow as individuals , but also strengthen the sense of unity and pride within the school and the broader community . JSAMS is committed to offering students opportunities that promote leadership , service , and a deep sense of Bulldog pride as part of our district ’ s mission to cultivate a unified , community-centered culture .
