PRESIDENT’ S MESSAGE
Dear ASCE Members,
And just like that … Spring is upon us. The days are getting longer, the snow piles are( slowly) melting, and before we know it, we’ ll be trading in our winter boots for mud season. It may not feel completely like spring just yet, but we’ re definitely headed in the right direction( or wrong direction depending on who you ask!). I, for one, have a bittersweet relationship with the season, as I am happy and excited for the approaching warm weather, but also sad to hang up the snowboard until next winter.
Mark your calendars! The ASCE-NH Annual Meeting is set for Wednesday, May 28th, from 5:00 to 8:30 PM at The Derryfield in Manchester, NH. This is always a great event to catch up with colleagues, celebrate the past year’ s accomplishments, look ahead to what’ s next for our section, and swear in the Board of Directors for the following year. We’ ll have dinner, networking, and presentations, along with the opportunity to recognize outstanding contributions within our engineering community.
In other news, the annual Concrete Canoe and Steel Bridge competitions are coming up on April 17th and 18th at UMass Amherst, and UNH will once again be competing against schools from across the region. These events showcase the creativity, technical skills, and teamwork of the next generation of engineers, and they’ re always great to watch. If you can make it, come out and show your support for the UNH teams! Also, if your firm is interested in sponsoring these talented students, let us know ASAP— your support goes a long way in helping them succeed.
There’ s a lot more than that to look forward to in the coming months, so be sure to stay tuned for upcoming announcements, email blasts and on social media. Enjoy the change of seasons and hang in there— summer will be here before we know it!
Best,
Michael Eno President, ASCE-NH
