CENTRE COUNTY PAWS

For almost 45 years , Centre County PAWS has been finding forever homes for cats and dogs . Our mission is to Promote Animal Welfare and Safety with compassion through adoption , sheltering , education , and community assistance . We are not affiliated with any other rescues that have PAWS in their titles .
In 2023 , 792 cats and 319 dogs were adopted . Thanks to our growing number of foster families , PAWS had a record year of animal intakes . Many of the cats and dogs who come to PAWS are found as strays . Others are surrendered for many reasons : financial insecurity ; homelessness ; housing issues ; and , for many senior pets , the inability of their owner to care for them due to ill health . We also transport animals from other shelters and have a partnership with a rescue in South Carolina . We bring puppies to PAWS every eight weeks if we have room .
Adoptions aren ’ t the only service PAWS provides to the public . We offer low-cost spay / neuter vouchers to Centre County residents who need to alter their own pets or feral or stray cats . The Virginia Walker Pet Pantry provides pet food and supplies to area residents in need . The Dr . John Thomas Veterinary Emergency Treatment ( VET ) Fund is a community resource intended to keep animals in loving families . A limited number of grants are available monthly to Central Pennsylvania residents and Centre County animal rescue groups .
PAWS receives no money from the federal , state , or local government and relies on the generosity of our community of animal lovers . Individuals , corporations , grants , special events , and special projects provide funds for PAWS , in addition to adoption fees . We are very fortunate to have an incredibly dedicated staff and many volunteers who love our animals like their own .
How can you help ? Adopt , foster , volunteer , or donate your time , talent , or money . PAWS always needs volunteers and foster families . In-kind donations of pet food , paper towels , litter , and other items are always needed . To view our needs list , log on to our website at : www . centrecountypaws . org
