The Niners — More than a golf club . This is a phrase coined by our longtime Niner Virginia Horler . It is the Niner mantra . As you read the Niners articles , my hope is that you will come to
LOFFINK realize how true this statement is .
The New Year is in progress , however , the Niners finished December with another successful fundraising event . The Holiday Gift Wrapping Elves brought smiles and cheers to those who wanted that special gift wrapped just right for their loved ones . The Wilsonville Community Sharing and Senior Center were presented with a check that reflected all those that donated generously to have their gifts wrapped .
After the success of the December Holiday Happy Hour , the winter event schedule continued with an excursion to the Top Golf venue for a few rounds of “ practice ” golf . It was a venture that will be remembered for all the fun we had . Even social member Paula Johnson joined in . She was sure she would have a big goose egg as a score . Her teammates , however , found out otherwise . Is that what one calls a hustler ? Luckily no money was involved , just laughs .
The February event was lunch and games . It included a delicious lunch catered by the Market Café and party games that reflected questionable skills of a few of us . Maybe we should stick with golf !
March 12 will be the last winter event . At this writing it will be a bowling excursion , subject to change depending on the arrangements we are able to make . You can sign up in the book in the ProShop and put your check in the Niner drawer or you can sign up online at ladiesninersgolf . com where you can pay with a credit card or sign up and still drop a check off in the ProShop . is another way for us to connect with our Niner friends and other women who may want to be a part of this fabulous club .
As we gain new members , I will try to feature a biography of them in my articles . Rochelle Petts is relatively new to Oregon , coming from Michigan , and now resides in Canby . Why Oregon ? Her family is here and spending time with her 4-year-old granddaughter is a priority . While in Michigan , she golfed in leagues and , since moving here with her husband who already plays at Charbonneau , she too wanted a weekly commitment to golf . The Niners fit that need . She spent 30 years in technology , primarily as a project manager for implementations . She finds it interesting that within her age bracket of those she has met , typically , there are few if any who took the technology walk . She enjoys all activities outdoors and is anxious to transform the yard at her new home . I have touched on just a few highlights from our conversation , so , when you see her spend a few minutes , you will enjoy her amiable nature .
