Region 1 Sping Assembly – Portland Maine
The Region 1 Spring Assembly took place on March 15 th and March 16 th in Portland , Maine . The assembly was hosted by Woodard & Curran and provided and opportunity for all 13 sections and associated branches to meet , network , learn , and share regional insight with one another . The assembly was offered as a hybrid meeting for those that could not travel .
The assembly was attended by past-president Maria Lehman , P . E ., ENV SP , F . ASCE . and offered a question and answer session with this year ’ s presidential candidates – Marsha Anderson Bomar , AICP , ENV SP , F . ITE , F . ASCE and Kenneth H . Rosenfield , P . E ., ENV SP , F . ASCE . Nationwide membership is 164,000 strong and leadership is excited about the future and recommends every engineer to find the nearest IMAX playing Mega City 2070 - to shape the built world of tomorrow . As the message was predominantly positive it was spoken in detail about the shortage of engineers entering the profession .
Speaking of the future , the student chapters of the region were highlighted throughout the weekend with Day 2 capping off with updates from the students themselves . ASCE-NH looks forward to the upcoming student symposium with the northeast being hosted by the University of New Hampshire , April 19 th to April 21 st .
With the spring assembly in the books , the fall assembly is slowly taking shape . It is planned take place in Buffalo , NY and the region is looking forward to gathering again as summer comes to an end .
