Spring brings new life , growth and opportunities

There is a theory ( non-scientific , of course ) that you actually prefer the season in which you came into the world because it was your first frame of
BOOK reference . I was born
in the spring . There is a very old picture of my infant homecoming from the hospital with my mother and father placing my feet on the earth outside of our house before we entered . This family tradition was meant to immediately connect the newborn ’ s spirit and body to the earth . I probably do not have to say this , but the season of spring is my favorite time of year ! I am connected to the earth , especially in the spring . Regardless of when you were born , I would guess that I am not the only CWGA member that is ready to say
hello to spring . When I think of spring , new life , new growth , new beginnings and new opportunities come to mind . CWGA has much to report in all these categories !
Jean Czubin , membership chair , reports that we have had a surge of record-breaking growth with 16 new members added to our club roster . And it is still winter , which is not a typical membership growing period . The word must be spreading that CWGA is a great golf club with growing connections to the golfing community , and a great place to establish new relationships .
In terms of new opportunities , one goal this season for CWGA is to increase participation in golf and within the organization . CWGA has added golf times on Tuesdays as part of sanctioned play . This means that signing up and playing 18 holes of golf on Tuesday in the slots provided for CWGA will be counted as a sanctioned round . Since the board recently voted to increase the number of rounds from five to eight to qualify for participation in the Handicap and Club Championship tournaments , Tuesday play will provide an opportunity to increase your golf rounds and hopefully decrease your handicap . As a new member invited to write this column , this season members can expect an invitation to become
more actively involved in growing this organization with fresh ideas for future activities . As the “ publicity person ,” and in writing this article , I can tell you I believe my involvement in CWGA has increased significantly . Try attending the next board meeting on March 1 and you may find a committee that sparks your interest .
Bringing new life to CWGA , the Communication and Website Committee , Cathi McLain , Sue Oberg and Kathie Barton , will launch our new website in the spring . The new website will bring ease of access to Golf Genius , player rosters and results , as well as expand communication for everything CWGA ! As we celebrate what is to come in the coming golf season , CWGA will also celebrate its past . This year marks the 50th anniversary of CWGA , originally established in 1973 as CLGA ! Stay tuned for some new twists on past golf attire , rules , standards and equipment . Who knows , we may be bringing new life into some old traditions .
If you haven ’ t had a chance to attend one of the winter luncheons , there is one last possibility on March 9 . Consider this an opportunity to start a new beginning with golfing friends , meet and welcome the new life of our membership and grow in laughter with a great group of women !
