Looking ahead to Festival of Arts & Music

Hello , spring ! We know it says so on the calendar , but more likely , it still feels like winter , and we continue to endure cool and damp weather , and only dream of sunshine and golf season . The good news is that we know we ’ re getting close to the change in seasons that helps us to enjoy Charbonneau ’ s amenities to the max .
Charbonneau Arts Association ’ s board members are enjoying some winter downtime , as

preparations for the 39th annual Festival of Arts & Music won ’ t kick into high gear until April . But even with that , things are percolating on a few levels . The sponsorship team of Eric Hoem and Mary Closson have begun their work to garner sponsors for the festival , and the call to artists will go out the end of March . We are still recruiting volunteers to help us manage the artisan vendor show and silent auction , so if you or someone you know has the interest and skills , we will welcome the help .
Patsy Cline tribute concert
We were disappointed to have to postpone the Patsy Cline tribute concert with Rebecca Hardiman and her band due to remodeling work at the Event Center . The new date is now set for Sunday , July 16 , and tickets go on sale in May . Watch the Charbonneau Country Club news updates for details .
Grant awards
We are pleased to report that we were awarded a project grant award from the Clackamas County Cultural Coalition , in the amount of $ 1,950 , to offset the costs of our artist registration service and silent auction program . We will be applying for other grants from the city of Wilsonville and Regional Arts & Culture Council to help with some of the big expenses incurred by the festival and our mission to provide financial support to high school arts programs . The more support we receive from grants and sponsorships , the more we are able to provide to the schools .
High school donations
We have been donating to Canby and Wilsonville High School fine art programs for several years , and this year we will add music programs to the list . Proceeds from the Music Stage Series will be made available to band and choir teachers for the first time . Requests are submitted via a one-page form detailing the amount and purpose of the grant . So far in 2023 , we have awarded $ 5,500 to Canby High School ’ s art programs , from proceeds from the 2022 festival . Our support will allow them to replace a throwing wheel , replace broken shelving , purchase additional table easels , pay for field trip transportation , fund photography , drawing and painting classes , and “ fill the gap ” for costs of supplies that dramatically increased from last year . Jennifer Dorsey and Cori , one of the other art teachers , sent a note of thanks : “ Thank you once again for your support of our art program at Canby High School ! Your generosity is greatly appreciated . Looking forward to the festival !” and “ Can ’ t wait to share new opportunities with my students this year !!!”
These donations would not be possible without the support of our artists , artisans , sponsors and donors . We especially want to acknowledge the donors to the 2022 year-end Matching Donation Challenge , who generously contributed almost $ 4,000 at year ’ s end . Donations are accepted year-round , are tax-deductible , and easy to do via our website at charbonneauarts . org . CAA is also acting as the donation sponsor for the Sacajawea Project , thanks to our 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) tax exempt status . Events and opportunities will be ongoing through the year until the goal is reached to purchase the bronze of Sacajawea & Son ( Jean Baptiste Charbonneau ). A donation portal is now available on the CAA website . As of Jan . 31 , we had collected $ 19,535 , on our way to $ 52,000 .
As the flowers begin to bloom and trees leaf out , celebrate the joy of spring and the promise of another season of fun at Charbonneau .

Charbonneau Directory Changes

Spring is almost here , and it is time for the CCC office staff to begin updating the Charbonneau Resident ’ s Directory . This booklet is not just a resident directory . It also contains helpful information about Charbonneau businesses , homeowner associations , architectural control policies , etc .
Please ensure the information in the blue-colored 2022 directory is current for those already listed . The directory information includes resident phone numbers and e-mails . This information may have changed . For instance , if you have canceled your landline and are now exclusively using your cell phone , please contact us so we can remove the landline from the directory . The phone company will reassign those canceled phone numbers to new clients , and those new clients will receive your phone calls . This can be very frustrating for all concerned . The deadline for making changes is May 17 , which is the date of the CCC annual meeting .
If you have recently moved to Charbonneau , contact the CCC office staff at 503-694-2300 or Office @ CharbonneauCountry- Club . com and let them know how you would like to be listed in the directory . The post office will deliver the directory exclusively to Charbonneau addresses sometime in June .
