Charbonneau Golf
Club ( CGC ) as we look forward to spring in 2023 . The month of March not only signifies the end of winter and the beginning of spring , but also the end of the CGC fiscal year . While the fullyear results are not yet complete , it seems certain that the golf club will finish the year again in the black and fully self-supporting . We have a couple of projects that will be visible to the public with our facilities and plan to continually upgrade the condition of our 27 golf holes .
As CCC President Gary Newbore
mentioned in his article , the Charbonneau Golf Club is joining with the Charbonneau Country Club ( CCC ) to upgrade the exterior of our pro shop and Market Café to match the remodeled exterior of the Charbonneau Event Center . This will include new siding , roofing updates , new windows and doors , and work on the exterior deck between the Market Café and the Event Center . A new doorway will be put between the two facilities to ease bringing food from the restaurant into the Event Center . As this remodel and associated expense were not in our initial plans for 2023 , we can thank CCC for helping to arrange a low-interest loan to CGC to cover the expense . This loan will allow us to make monthly payments that should not adversely affect our monthly operations or cash flow , and continue the planned capital expenditures upgrading the golf course . The cooperation between CCC and CGC , since the merger in 2020 , continues to benefit both parties and the community .
In late December the tent outside the pro shop , covering the golf course patio , was severely damaged in a windstorm . This tent , while not the most attractive venue , had
proven extremely useful in providing additional space for both golfers and non-golfers to enjoy food and drink from the Market Café , and more than doubled the sitdown capacity for the restaurant . In looking to replace the tent , the CGC board and management felt that a more permanent structure to cover the patio , that fit with the remodeled pro shop / Market Café / Event Center , would be the way to go . One of our enterprising annual club members found a company that could provide a kit utilizing wood framing and comp shingles that will give us a 20 ’ x40 ’ cover that can withstand wind speed in excess 100 miles per hour and is visually attractive . The kit is on order and a contractor has been hired to assemble and install the kit . Like the exterior remodel project , the timing and completion of this new patio cover will be subject to the time it takes for the city of Wilsonville to issue us a permit . With any luck , it will be finished this spring and in time for our busiest golf season .
Regarding our spring plans for the golf course , we will continue to sand and seed the fairways . This
