As the weather begins to improve , we all look forward to the beginning of the golf season . For the Men ’ s Club members , there

MASON are several “ beginnings ,” which start

March 1 . � For “ new members ” to the Men ’ s Club , there will be a “ New Member Welcome Coffee ” at 8 a . m . Wednesday , March 15 , followed by golf . New members will receive an invitation to this event .

� March 1 through Nov . 30 are the official dates for reporting scores as part of the World Handicapping System for those of us in the Northwest . So , beginning March 1 , please report your scores via Golf Genius .

� Regular Charbonneau Men ’ s Club games will start this year on Saturday , March 26 and continue

Wednesday , March 29 .

� This year ’ s “ Tee Off Breakfast ” will be held on Saturday , April 1 . There is no additional charge for breakfast as it ’ s included as part of the Men ’ s Club membership fee . A four-person shotgun scramble follows breakfast for those who want to play .

Rule of the month

Just to let you know about a couple of rule items :

� There are some minor changes to the Rules of Golf that are now in effect . You can find these on the United States Golf Association website if you want to review .

� The Men ’ s Club will again be sponsoring a rules review later this spring with our own local rules official Jim Gibbons . All three clubs will be invited to attend this presentation .

� The Men ’ s Club is in the process of developing a local rule dealing with tree roots . I ’ ll have more on that when the rule is approved .

Spam emails

Recently it appears that our Men ’ s Club email was hacked and the hacker used my name to forward on to our members a request for funds . This was not a request from me and you should not respond . This is the

second time in three years that someone hacked into our website and requested the purchase of gift cards . The last time this happened , one of our members sent money before they checked on the legitimacy of the request .

Here are a few simple steps to consider if you suspect any email is spam .

� Contact the local person who supposedly sent you the email either by phone or by email to see if it ’ s a legitimate email or spam . Trust me , we don ’ t mind getting those kinds of calls .

� Is it better to block or delete spam ?

If you receive any unwanted email , the best approach in almost every case is to delete it immediately . It is often clear from the subject line that a message is junk so you may not even need to open the message to read it . Never open or reply to these requests .

� Sometimes such messages invite you to reply if you want to be removed from their list . DO NOT DO THIS !

We have an array of items to help those in need

Hey all , March will bring spring and daylight saving time ! I ’ m seeing my daffodils , tulips and hyacinth all popping

VEDDER into view . We ’ re on a roll .

This month I thought I ’ d create a list of the things that Sunshine Service keeps in stock for you to borrow . Some of the following items come in bigger quantities than others , so you will understand the need to return things as soon as you can . There are over 2,500 people living in Charbonneau , including in condos , townhouses , single-family homes , SpringRidge , etc . Obviously there is not enough equipment to go around to that

many people at once ! Sunshine tries to add things from time to time , using our small bank account ( remember , donations are important !) to serve your needs better . It ’ s always fun to see what ’ s been invented in health care .

These are some items you can borrow :

� For the bathroom : shower benches , commodes , toilet risers , toilet rails and suction tub handles

� Walkers : four-and-two wheel types and trays to fit most walkers

� Wheelchairs : transport size , easy to load in car and household use , cushions and ramps

� Canes / crutches : An assortment of both and adjustable for height

� Beds : room monitors , bedside table , bed rails , air mattress ( twin size ), wedges

� Miscellaneous : ice machines , humidifier , gait belts , shoe horns , sock aids , gel packs ( hot and cold ), grabber sticks

In other words — if you need it , most likely we ’ ve got it ! Cut this list out and save it .
