A fifth-generation woodworker , Matthew ’ s ancestral values of quality materials , attention to detail and precision joinery guide his work . Through his process of education in spiritual formation and meditation , Matthew rediscovered his love of imagining various furniture designs and bringing them to fruition with his mind and body . This professional background in existential philosophy , spiritual direction and meditation undergirds and influences his design process . Environmental sustainability is important to us at SouleWork . All of our lumber comes from sustainably harvested forests and mills and all of our furniture is of heirloom-quality with an enduring design to ensure its long life and good health . Scrap pieces of wood are reclaimed and incorporated into smaller projects whenever possible or donated to various local vendors ."
