SPRING HOME GUIDE PROFILES
The second temps hit fifty-five degrees , our brains immediately think of ways to declutter , design or even demo our homes to make room for a fresh look .
INTERIORS One of the easiest ways to refresh your home is simply by changing the cosmetics . However , some projects require advanced planning . Construction starts at least six months to a full year after engaging with a designer , architect or builder , says Erika Twohig of Cedar House Design Collaborative , and that doesn ’ t even account for upfront design planning . Depending on how large you ’ re living , some projects won ’ t even start this season .
" Start planning early , because the spring season is short and contractors get busy quickly ,” says Maggie Ferri of Meridian Custom Homes . “ Your plans for this year could easily turn into a project that doesn ' t get completed until next year ."

SPRUCE UP YOUR HOME THIS SEASON ON A BUDGET
In the meantime , pick a project you can easily manage , such as refinishing your deck , changing your backsplash tile or adding wallpaper to the powder room — something that will provide you with a sense of accomplishment and bring joy to your family home , Twohig says .
OUTDOORS Create a space to cherish for the warmer months ( and possibly expand into the fall season ). Don ’ t neglect structures ! Add a statement piece like a pergola or arbor to bring new definition to your space .
“ Today ’ s pergolas flip the script on traditional design with an eclectic use of materials and a careful mix of textures , as well as interesting angles and linear details ,” says Sarah Lawson of Walpole Outdoors . “ Clean , contemporary arbors can create intimacy and interest , and they also anchor your space , offering a design solution that ’ s both functional , incredibly versatile and easy on the eyes .”
