Julie Duffy , current chair of the Crossroads Rhode Island board of directors , is an active member of the Rhode Island business , legal , civic , and philanthropic communities . An executive vice president at Textron , Julie leads the company ’ s worldwide human resources function and oversees its communications , corporate real estate , community affairs and aviation departments . A member of the company ’ s executive leadership team , she also chairs the company ’ s Benefits and Charitable Contributions committees .
Earlier in her career , Julie led Textron ’ s in-house litigation team . She was a commissioner for the Rhode Island Judicial Nominating Commission from 2015

through 2021 and currently serves on several other nonprofit boards .
Julie first joined the Crossroads RI board in 2015 and was elected board chair in 2022 . Under her leadership , she says Crossroads will remain focused on creating better outcomes for every individual and every family served .
“ Investing in housing is good for Rhode Island . We are working on ambitious plans to build more housing for low-income families and individuals and expand our partnerships with health care providers ,” she says . “ As a result , we will need fewer shelters and create more economic opportunity for more people . When people live in apartments instead of on the streets , in their cars , or in a shelter , good things happen — their physical and mental health improves and stabilizes ; the opportunities to find meaningful , self-sustaining employment increase and their children do better in school .”
Julie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgetown University as well as a J . D . from Boston University ’ s School of Law . Julie currently resides in Barrington with her husband , Jonathan , and their youngest of three daughters .
