Wellbeing

Why English Nurse Care Team is Different ..

. We can provide care from a few hours to full “ live in Care ”. We are also companions if all that is needed is a friendly face for “ a cuppa at home ” . We can assist with household chores , accompany to the shops or bring in shopping . The majority of our carers have English as their first language .
. We can create a package of care based on what the patient can comfortably afford .
. We are Nurse led and supported . ( English Nurses UK trained and Registered in both Spain and the UK ). We work alongside our local health authority colleagues and are well known and respected .
. We have an ongoing Care Quality Commission recognised training system in place for our carers .
. All our carers are Police Checked and Insured and working legally ( so pose no risk to the patient should “ checks ” be made by the authorities ). Our Carers are uniformed , carry identification and are proud of what they do .
. We have our own in house “ Falls Team “ who are experienced carers ( a free home visit and pre - registration is required contact us on 692 419 548 or message on 951 550 581 ).
. The falls team attend the patient . If they are clearly unhurt they assist them to get up with our Raizer Chair . If they need an ambulance they will contact the emergency services and accompany the patient to hospital and see them through the Spanish System . At all points the family will be updated .
. We can take people shopping , or bring shopping in . We can accompany to doctor or hospital visits , routine or for investigations .. ( We have Spanish translators on the team who know their way around the system ).
. “ Hospital Sitting Services ” - Usually the families stay with the patient . Often for a “ non-Spanish patient it is not possible ( We can help with this ). Our Nurses visit the patient in hospital . We are very familiar with the investigation and can reassure the patient and the family as to what is happening and then can liaise with the doctor . Hospital Sitting : This can provide vital respite for the family when a foreign hospital may feel over whelming . We can provide assistance from a few hours to 24 / 7 . For the more dependant hospital patient : We can then put in carers to assist with hygiene , monitor fluids and thereby ensuring that the patient ’ s needs are met ( these basics are often lacking even in the private hospitals ).
. On Discharge home : Our Carers will be there to meet the patient . Shopping will be done to meet the meet the patients nutritional ( and preferred diet ). Any equipment needed will be supplied free of charge subject to availability . ( An external delivery firm is used for bed delivery so there is a charge for delivery and collection of electric beds ). The carers will assist in all personal care and maintain a clean hygienic environment . We aim to support to enable independent living and quality of life . We were the beneficiary of a good sum of money from a grateful family so we were able to buy some fantastic equipment . We have carers with extensive certificated dementia experience .
. The nurses will visit : Record and act on vital signs , blood pressure , etc . implement exercise / mobility regimes as required , procure medication review and put in monitored system if required . Give injections . We can redress wounds and adapt to the changing wound . Manage PEG feeds . Remove Clips and Stitches . We are able to carry out bowel care and advise on medication and diet . Test Urine . Manage and educate diabetics . Assist in respiratory issues . Syringe ears . Palliative Care : there is a palliative care team in Spain but it is generally “ distant and advisory “ and a home visit is the exception rather than the rule . We have a specially skilled “ end of life team ”. The Nurses know the system and can get the correct medication in good time to ensure comfort and peace of mind in the final stages . If the patient is not in the Spanish system we have our own doctor to advise and assist in procuring the correct medication .
. We are able to organise a Health Related or Financial Power of Attorney through an English speaking company at home or in hospital if required . We also have knowledge of the funeral procedure here in Spain and the legalities . We also have a qualified bereavement counsellor on the team . You wouldn ’ t take your loved one to an unregistered dentist so would you entrust them to an unregistered / uninsured Carer or Nurse ?
