February 6 / 7 , 2021 Bridgeport , TX
The 2021 Texas State Series has begun , and this season is shaping up to look a little bit different than normal but is still going to be a great year for trials . Rounds 1 & 2 were held at Twin Hills Cycle Ranch in Bridgeport , TX on February 6th , and 7th . Weather is always unpredictable in Texas , but mother nature cooperated and provided milder temps than usual . Twin Hills has terrain for any class of rider , which makes it an anticipated event every year . Some rocks will have traction , others will be deceivingly slick in wet or dry conditions .
Saturday morning ’ s portion of the event did not take any prisoners . Many riders who had just decided to move up were strongly challenged , but the more experienced riders showed that each section was doable . The afternoon riders had a similar experience , with a little bit more emphasis on making sure that there were no clean score cards . On Sunday , the sections were loosened up slightly to offset for the difficulty of Saturday . Each class showed an improvement , but scores were still in a good range . Morning class riders were pleasantly relieved to see less 3 ’ s on their cards , and afternoon riders were thankful to see more cleans on theirs .
In the Texas State Series , the Strider , Cadet , and Rookie classes ride separately from the morning classes . Tom and Vicky Batchelor have consistently been a big help to the trials masters by taking care of the kid ’ s lines at each event in the Series . There are always plenty of Osets at Texas State Series events , and we are all looking forward to watching the kids work their way up the ranks . Jaxson Rostetten , Sylvie Bruinsma , and Gunner Remy all rode very well and made their parents proud !
The morning classes ( Novice , Women ’ s , Amateur , Sr . Amateur ) all showed a strong start to the season . Each class had new faces , some that were totally new to the sport , and some that had decided to move up a class . Daniel Alvarez had back-to-back first place finishes , followed closely by Nick Botha and Camden Duval on Saturday . The gap widened on Sunday , this time in front of Evan Bruinsma and Daniel Rasmussen . Lance Talkington found himself solo in the Advanced Novice class both days , but still had a good score for the event .
Amateur and Sr . Amateur always have good turnout and tight competition . Jeromy Sanchez took first on Saturday , with Devin Wolansky and Bill Kostelka coming in 2nd and 3rd . On Sunday , Adam Rasmussen , placed 1st with Davis
