Good Day and welcome to your Wednesday Kingdom Connection Devotional for March- Week 2! In honor of the Texas Rodeo, the theme for this month is Christ's Kingdom Livestock. We began this month with the topic of sheep and are moving onto to another livestock discussed in Christ's Kingdom which is the goat. As I shared on yesterday, the Bible doesn't teach a "demonic" association to the goat however, the attitudes and traits of a goat certainly need to be addressed and transformed in order to function and flow biblically as Christ's Kingdom citizens within His church.
On yesterday we began with the MIND and the intelligence factor of the goat in comparison to sheep. On today, let's take a look at the WILL. Goats are also what we call independent in comparison to sheep. Sheep naturally keep with their flock while goats have no problem doing their own thing. Sheep focus on grazing grass while the goats appetite will lead him to leaves, twigs anything else edible they can reach. Their thinking permits them to step outside the box. Their appetite drives them search for something different. Two simple and what we innocently think "natural" things to do but it does cause them to operate independently from the herd.
When it comes to Christ's Kingdom, independence is almost a curse word. Our biblical analogies of who WE are inclusive. We are:
1 The Body of Christ I Corinthians 12:27
2. The Family of God Romans 8: 15-17
3. The sheep of His pasture Psalms 100:3
4. The Church Matthew 18:17
5. God's Field & Building I Corinthians 3:9
NONE of these 5 description can be represented by a single person. NONE of these 5 description can be configured by a single person. It takes many. It is erroneous to say, " I am the church. " No single person represents the Body of Christ. We are all joints that are to supply (Ephesians 4: 16). We are many members IN one body (I Corinthians 12:12)
Even when we find scriptures of isolation such as praying in your closet, the end results should be for the edification of others, the edification of the body and edification of Christ's Kingdom.
Jesus literally prayed in John 17:
20 I am not asking on behalf of them alone,
but also on behalf of those who will believe
in Me through their message, 21 that all of them
may be one,as You,
Father, are in Me,
and I am in You.
May they also be in
Us, so that the world
may believe that You sent Me. 22 I have given them the glory You gave Me, so that they may be one as We are one—
My apostle makes it plain to me when he calls it "Maverick Christianity". Serving God:
1) on your own terms
2) in your own way
3) at your own leisure
4) not with organized religion
5) independent of a leader
You will find NO supporting scripture to validate your thoughts and desires no matter how intelligent you may be and how much sense and justification you come up with.
