Good Day and welcome to your Thursday Kingdom Connection Devotional for March- Week 2! I'm using the Texas Rodeo as the inspiration for the theme of this month which is Christ's Kingdom Livestock. I pray this week topics on the "goat" have been eye-opening and preparing hearts and to mind to be changed to the characters and traits of citizens in Christ's Kingdom. On today we are going to look a final aspect of our every day lifestyle and that's our appetites. For any of us who are more than 10 pounds overweight and even those who SHOULD be 10 pounds over weight our appetites are the cause! We want, what we want, when we want it! LOL. Cake with extra frosting and fruit at 10PM just ain't right. But our appetites, be it for food, mind-altering substances, sex, money, fame, companionship etc... all can get us into so much trouble in the natural and out of the will of God spiritually.
One of the distinctions between the sheep and the goat is that the sheep is just going to graze on grass. AND they are going stop feeding when the shepherd tells them too.
Jeremiah 3:15 says:
And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding
Now the goat however is a different story. I didn't "photoshop" the picture of this goat
1) standing on his hind legs
2) on top of a rock
3) that is in midst of water
4) with his front legs on broken sticks
5) trying to eat a mango from this tree!
He is worst than the midnight cake with extra frosting eating! But that's what having appetites that are not from God do to us. We literally lose it. We get out of control. We take things toooooooo far. Some of us get SO lonely that we stop caring if they other person is married, unsaved, our friends and family hate them for us. Appetites make us dismiss
1) Reality- Galatians 6:7-8
7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. Whatever a man sows, he will reap in return. 8 The one who sows to please his flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; but the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.
2) Boundaries II Corinthians 6:14-15
14 Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership can righteousness have with wickedness? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness? 15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?
3) Spirituality - Galatians 5:17
For the flesh craves what
is contrary to the Spirit,
and the Spirit what is
contrary to the flesh.
They are opposed to one
another, so that you do \
not do what you want.
4) Vision for our lives
Proverbs 29:18
Where there is no vision,
the people are
unrestrained,
But happy is he who
keeps the law.
5) Eternal repercussions- I Corinthians 6:9-10
9. Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life are the things that are in the
