Last Friday, March 3, the Groveton Eagles Boys team took the win against Epping in their varsity basketball quarterfinal matchup. They went on to play second-seeded Woodsville on Monday night, ultimately winning that match as well. They will go on to face Littleton in the Division IV finals in Plymouth this Friday night. Family includes his wife Beatrice( Tanguay) Wheeler of Berlin; his children Jay Wheeler and wife Peg of Berwick, Maine, Jill Wheeler-Leggett and husband Bill of Jacksonville, Fla., Jim Wheeler and wife Karen of West Milan and Jess Wheeler and wife Jen of Dayton, Maine; a sister Joan Hilt of Colebrook; grandchildren Abby and husband Tim Rummo, Grady and Gabe Wheeler, Robert Byars and wife Marianne and Tyler Byars, Shamus Wheeler and companion Wendy Wang, Nicholas and Sophie Wheeler; four great grandchildren( Luke, Lilyanne, Livia and Hazel); many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his sisters-in-law Dorothy Ferrante of Gorham and Irene Tieva of Tuscon, Ariz., his brothers-in-law Louie and Arthur Tanguay of Gorham. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his siblings Donald, Albert, Jr. and Monica Wheeler as well as brothers-inlaw Richard, Alphee, Wilfred and Maurice Tanguay.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 10 a. m. at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. GEORGE MCKINNON
CLARKSVILLE – George McKinnon passed away doing what he loved, getting ready for another Maple Sugaring Season in Clarksville on Feb. 27, 2017.
He was a loving husband, father, patriot, master carpenter and fisherman. George was born in Burlington, Mass. on June 8, 1940. He was 15 years old when he and his family moved to their farm in Clarksville.
George served honorably three years in the US Army as a Paratrooper in the 101st Airborne division. When he left the Army, He worked for a period of time for Ethan Allan in Beecher Falls, Vt and drove log trucks for several North Country jobbers. George ' s true passion in life was the the construction trade as a carpenter and worked in the profession for over 50 years. He worked all over the Northeast and many other states all over the country as the profession and economic times dictated. George mentored, trained and refined hundreds of professional carpenters and tradesmen over the years. He was known as the consummate professional and many a tradesman enjoyed working with him and seeing the end
result of his work and ultimately, their own work. George loved his work, his wife, his family, his children, and his country. Boy, did he love fishing. He spent countless hours on the Kennebec River in Maine fishing for Atlantic Striped Bass. In George ' s younger years he was an avid snowmobiler and began making Christmas wreaths, which he continued to do throughout his entire life. Everyone has a“ George story”, full of good“ Yankee Humor” and wise insight.
George is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Sandra McKinnon, who he fell in love with and married March 1, 1980. He is also survived by his daughters Ann Champagne, Susan McKinnon, and son Greg Hibbard, step sons Sean Glavin, Matthew Glavin, and step daughter Karen Glavin, grandchildren Alex Hibbard, Ben McKinnon, Cecily Marchand, Dawson Klebe, Grady and Joe Ahern, Melanie, Trevor, Madelyn and Connor Glavin, Janelle Glavin, great grandchildren Adalynn and Koal Marchand. Brothers Donald McKinnon Jr. and wife Lorraine, Paul McKinnon and wife Cindy, and sister Kathy Keezer.
George was predeceased by his mother Evelyn, father Donald Sr., brother Harry, sister Evelyn and nephew Raymond.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 7, from 11 a. m. to 2 p. m. at the Tecumseh Lodge at Purity Spring Resort in Madison. A memorial service will take place at 12 noon. Anyone who knew him is invited to come and celebrate and perhaps tell a story about this great man.

ANNONCIADE MARQUIS
COLEBROOK— Annonciade Marquis, 91, of Colebrook, passed away Monday afternoon, March 6, 2017, at the Coos County Nursing Hospital in West Stewartstown after a long period of declining health, and where she had been a resident since 2007.
She was born in St. Malo, Que., on Aug. 14, 1925, a daughter to the late Wildred and Evelina( Inkel) Fauteux. She emigrated to the U. S. in 1947 when she married.
For many years, Annonciade was the bookkeeper for her husband’ s business, and she worked for a time at the Oblate Fathers’ Shrine in Columbia. She was a faithful communicant at St. Brendan’ s Catholic Church and she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her.
She is survived by her seven children, John Pierre Marquis
( Trudy) of Albuquerque, N. M.; Raymond Marquis( Anne) of Harwich, Mass., John Marc Marquis( Cyndi) of Franklin, Gerald Marquis( Annette) of Twin Mountain, Jules Marquis( Ellen) of Colebrook; Julien Marquis( Debra) of Littleton, and Louise Owen( Bruce) of Stewartstown, NH; three sisters, Therese Vaillancourt of Compton, Que., Sr. Claire Fauteux of St-Hyacinthe, Que., and Celine Madore of Stewartstown; two brothers, Henri- Paul Fauteux of St. Malo, Que., and Denis Fauteux of Coaticook, Que.; 16 grandchildren, six greatgrandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Albert Marquis, in 1989, and a brother, Leon Fauteux.
Calling hours will be on Friday morning, March 10, 2017, from 9 to 11 a. m. at the Jenkins and Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 11 a. m. at St. Brendan’ s Catholic Church in Colebrook with The Rev. Craig Cheney as celebrant. Burial will be in the spring at St. Brendan’ s Cemetery of which notice will be given.
