is one of the most incredible places on the Gulf Coast. It's a living, breathing being. It has overcome a lot and will come back even stronger thanks to the influx of all the bait and silt from the opening of the spillway. Just don't let the thought of the spillway water put you in the wrong state of mind. Another area that is one of my favorites this time of year is down along the coast of Grand Isle. This area is loaded with specks year round, and this time of year is when those big girls start becoming more active and easier to catch especially on the beach with topwaters. The thing to look for is definitely some clean water that’s full of bait down there. My favorite bait to find down there for big trout are definitely pogies and mul- “Sharp hooks can save your day when throwing topwaters for specks mainly because that soft mouth may break on the hook and the hook will get lodged somewhere else on his mouth and keep him on the line.” Continued
