Moving into March we are back to the transition. I have
already notice the fish moving around. The water temp has
been rising and we have been catching trout scatted all
around. Putting together a box full of trout can be tough in
this month. The secret will be, do not stay in one place to
long on no bite thinking something should be there. Get
into these inner lakes and drifting thought them is where we
have been finding our fish. Find an area of little deeper
water in the lakes and drift it. A good way to find these
deep channels is to follow the crab traps. They will place
them in the areas of deeper water of these lakes. As you
drift you will pick serval fish in one spot as soon as the stop
biting pick up power pole and keep moving. When you get
to other side pick up and start over. By doing this stick and move pattern you will fill
the box in no time. Redfish on the other hand, having my Shallow Sport Boat I have
the advantage on the redfish now. Casing reds back into the ponds with clear water so
you can sight cast to them cursing the banks. Tie on you favorite color Matrix Shad
and go search for the bronze backs. Go check out Captain Anthony Buquoi on his face
book page and on you tube, Spot On Fishing Adventures and his website at
www.spotonfishingadventures.com to see how we are doing on the water. If you would

Believe it or not, spring is almost upon us.
“Game On” weather still remains unpredictable, and in Delacroix we are somewhat
controlled by the flow rate of Caernarvon.
When the weather is nice, you should begin
to find concentrations of fish throughout the
Point Fienne, Lake Batola, and Four Horse
area. At this time of year, the cutoffs along
the Twin Pipeline can also be very productive.
Pay attention to the effect of the Spillway and
the Mississippi River water that is brought
into our areas. Avoid those lakes or other
canals that have a high concentration of river
water. Salinity is the key. Taste the water, but
don’t drink it.
Along the way, March and April are
the two best months for you to experience
catching large trout along the edges of shallow areas. Top water baits like the He Dog
and other hard baits can be very productive
during this time of year as the spawning ritual will begin with our
trout. Find flats with hard bottoms that fall off into water five or
six feet deep. Moon and tide will control and si ۘ[
