SPECIAL SECTION: KIRKLAND SIGNATURE

Wines, especially sauvignon blanc, are another area where Kirkland Signature continues to outshine and overdeliver.

M aking wine is easy. It’ s a simple process of adding yeast to grape juice then allowing the sugars to convert to alcohol. As a species, we’ ve been doing it for at least 8,000 years. Making good wine, on the other hand, is difficult. Climate, fruit yield, cost of oak barrels and volume of production all add to the final price of the bottle. Sometimes the quality is below the cost. Other times, it is above.

The Kirkland Signature Ti Point Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is truly above. It is a wine that has stripped back anything not essential to focus on purity. It is a reminder that, ultimately, wine is a drink. It isn’ t meant to be intimidating; it is meant to be enjoyed and accessible.
The makings of a master
DC Flynt is founder and CEO of MACH Flynt, overseeing the import, export and production of Kirkland Signature wines, a label that launched in Costco in 2003 featuring a Californian cabernet and an Australian shiraz. It has quickly grown to include Champagne, chianti and, of course, Marlborough sauvignon blanc.
DC also holds the title of Master of Wine, an accreditation that is the pinnacle of wine expertise – there are only about 420 in the world. It is a prestigious position. While it is a natural assumption he would lend his knowledge to the premium category, DC is happy to clear up this misconception.
“ What is most important to Masters of Wine is that wines at every level, from entry to the super luxury, are authentic and true to type and style,” he explains.“ This is exactly what the Kirkland Signature Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc delivers.”
He also says Marlborough was an easy choice to put this philosophy >
