The Association is a grouping of premier manufacturers in the UK and provides a platform for like-minded companies to co-operate and promote with common interest the manufacture of tanks and cistern products conforming to the highest possible standards and is proactive in the promotion of its Members and their products. A critical feature provided by the Association is maintaining high profile representations to and negotiating with Government and other Regulatory Authorities on matters of mutual interest. A driving force has always been the maintenance of high manufacturing and product quality standards, ensuring customers and users of the products receive the optimum of service and life expectancy when their products are in use. In this regard the ATCM Members manufacturing processes are compliant with the 30 quality assurance standards BS EN 9000 or 9001 and have been proactive and involved in developing BS and European Product Standards for cold water storage. Namely, Glass Reinforced Plastic Sectional Tanks and One Piece Cisterns to BS EN 13280, Thermoplastic Cisterns to BS 4213 and BS EN 12573 for Domestic and Combined Feed and Expansion use, Steel Sectional Rectangular Tanks to BS 1564 and Steel, Galvanised Steel or Aluminium Sprinkler Water Storage Tanks to Loss Prevention Certification Board (LCP 1276) approval. Additionally, each Member has their Tank and Cistern Products third party approved by the Water Regulations and Advisory Scheme (WRAS) for the use of storing potable water and the Association was instrumental in the development of the WRAS publication No. 904-04 “Cold Water Storage Cisterns – Design Recommendations for Mains Supply Inlets”. A guidance booklet aimed at any water storage user as to design a tank or cistern inlet in compliance with the UK’s Water Regulations. The Association is a means of facilitating co-operation between Members related to the exchange of technical views and product application. MANUFACTURING AND ENGINEERING MAGAZINE The ATCM
