Churchill Glove
Centralia
Founded in 1895, this fourth-
generation company makes leather
gloves popular with welders,
motorcyclists, rodeo
riders, and of course their
original customers, loggers.
Their products are sold globally,
including in Japan and even a
hipster store in Moscow, Russia.
Andy Churchill displays split cow hide used
to fashion Churchill gloves. The company
also uses deer, elk, bison and goat leather.
These three longtime sewing experts at the James
Churchill Glove Co. in Centralia are “fabulous. They’re
gold... the heart,” said vice president Andrea Churchill.
➢ Pirkko Ranta, left, a 33-year employee, moved to
America from Finland in 1963. She lived next door to the
Churchill family, and has known current company owner
Andy Churchill since he was 3 years old. “It’s been fun,”
she said of her 33 years at the firm. “I really enjoy it. I
look forward to coming to work every day.”
➢ Jung Kim, center, a 36-year employee, worked at
Churchill for years before taking a break in the 1980s to
run a cafe and doughnut shop nearby. She returned to
Churchill in 1991.
➢ Ann Choon Mee Roh, right, a 47-year employee,
began working at the company shortly after moving to
America from South Korea in 1972.
