Auburn Boeing, the largest private employer in Washington, employs 5,000 people at its Auburn fabrication site. The site’s eight manufacturing business units produce 17,000 parts every day for the company’s airplanes. In 4.2 million square feet, the site’s capabilities include metals, tooling, emergent and specialty manufacturing. Boeing’s Workforce Readiness Center (left) is home to an apprentice program that dates back 84 years. First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt presided over the first graduation ceremony in 1940. U.S. Rep.
