Chess Position Trainer – © Stefan Renzewitz 2012 - all rights reserved 70 5.2.2.4 Photo Reading This mode is new in CPT 4. It’s following another theory for learning new items. If you select this mode CPT will show you randomly positions of your opening for a short moment before it shows you the correct candidate move. The idea is to make the moves sticky in your mind in a rather unconsciously way. You are not really supposed to consciously understand the position. One drawback is of course that program has no chance to focus on your weaknesses for obvious reasons, because there is no physical interaction and thus the training scores of your positions are not updated! It works rather like a slide-show so to say. 5.3 Start Training After you have selected an opening from the dropdown list you can start a training session by clicking on the Start button in the ribbon. Before you start training the selected opening you might be asked to recall positions which are scheduled for today. This is the key to the whole training approach. If you don’t repeat learned positions timely you will forget them and eventually waste time, because you have to re-learn them.
