PLAYING FROM A POSITION
When you click the green button to end the setup process
Chess King changes the control panel to display the
commands and features you can use while playing out the
position against Houdini:
• You'll have access to all of the usual
commands and hints (described in
Chapter 5) you see when playing a
game or undergoing a Quest. But
there's an additional command in the
list: “Switch sides”, which lets you play
the position from the other side; in other
words, you and your digital opponent
will switch places. Please note that while
it's possible to gain experience points
when playing from positions (especially
if you play one in which you start with
a material deficit), switching sides will
reduce (or eliminate) the experience you
can gain from the game.
• When you've finished your game there
are several things you may wish to do.
You can click the Train button from the
ribbon and then click “Analyze Game” to
have Houdini analyze the moves of your
game; we'll learn more about Houdini's
analysis in a later chapter.. You can also
save your game by clicking the yellow
“Menu” button from the ribbon and then
clicking “Save Game”. The game will be
saved to the database you specified as
your personal database (described in
Chapter 1).
