PART 2 • Setting the clock in chess king
Clicking the “Blitz” tab allows you to set any “sudden death”
time control (not just five minutes, e.g. traditional blitz) as well
as the delay time controls of your choice.
• If you want just a flat sudden death time control (no increment), set
the values for White and Black and leave the “increment” value set
to “0”. Note that you can set separate values for the White and Black
players; many players like to limit the computer's thinking time or, more
accurately, give themselves plenty of time. On the other hand, if you
want both you and Houdini to have the same amount of time, you can
click the “Same time for both players” box and set just one value which
will apply to both you and the computer.
• You can also use the “Blitz” tab dialogue to create delay time controls.
The pulldown menu beside “Predefined controls” gives you a choice of
common settings (including bullet chess).
