GETTING HELP FROM CHESS KING
Chess King will provide hints and advice if you need some
help completing a quest. But this help won't come free: asking
for help reduces the amount of experience and coins you'll
earn when you complete the quest and, in many cases, you'll
need to pay for the advice by spending the coins you've
earned!
Your profile panel will display how many coins you've earned
by solving puzzles, completing quests, and winning games:
Kara, whose profile is shown
above, has earned 524 coins.
• The value to the far right, beside the picture of a stack of gold, will
show you how many coins you've won.
• You can spend these coins on hints in your (non-Puzzle Mode) games
against Chess King. For example, when you're in Quest Mode you'll see
the “Show Best Move” command, as well as several different types of
advice in the white Hint Panel:
• Using the Show Best Move
command won't cost you any of
your gold coins, but using it will
reduce the number of experience
points and coins you'll receive if
you win the game; in fact, if you use
it multiple times in the same game,
you may earn nothing at all for a
victory. When you select Show Best
Move, the Houdini 4 chess engine
will draw an arrow on the screen
to indicate your best move in the
position:
