BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The world is facing several different environmental issues right now that put in danger the safety of our planet and those living in it. These are all problems people consider as normal because it's something we are living with every day. We are aware of them, we are just choosing to ignore them and not take action. There is a need to figure out a way to stop them and the damage they’re causing.
Data from 2005, the most reliable to date, says 115.3 million animals are used in experiments annually. Although, the authors from this study concluded it is most likely to be an underestimate. The countries that do collect it, exclude some animals from the study. 115.3 million is an estimate and if not all animals are included, at least 95% are excluded, it’s still a pretty big number. Animal testing is a problem because it’s not like there's a million or two, it's more than 115.3 million animal lives going through this.
Don’t get me wrong, a million is enough to make it a problem but the fact that the number is so big makes it a global level issue. Of all of the millions suffering there are approximately 100,000-200,000 animals dying for cosmetics every year around the world.
