STUDENTS EXPLORE CREATIVITY AT KENNETH DAVIS FINE ARTS ACADEMY
For Cameron Mays , her transition into the Kenneth Davis Elementary Fine Arts Academy was easy . It was important to Cameron ’ s parents , Tori Forte and Randy Mays , that Cameron continued to learn in a familiar environment while being able to explore her creativity in the elementary fine arts program .
“ Cameron was already a part of Kenneth Davis , having gone through kindergarten , first and second grade here ,” Forte said . “ We were able to keep her here where things were familiar but also give her the space to explore where she was feeling creative .”
The Kenneth Davis Fine Arts Academy opened in the fall of 2022 . Cameron is in the first group of students to go through the third and fourth grade program .
The fine arts academy provides students with a rigorous academic environment while encouraging artistic exploration and integration . The program emphasizes visual and performing arts such as theater and dance .
The integration between the fine arts and core subjects provides students with a unique learning experience . Fourth-grader Mateo Rivera ’ s favorite aspect of the Academy is the integrated lessons .

Students at the Kenneth Davis Fine Arts Academy are regularly given opportunities to perform .
you love and get them into one class ,” he said . Subjects can mix and match together whether it is math and theater , art and English , or science and dance .
Fourth-grader Jacqueline Cornwall ’ s favorite thing about the academy is the ensemble . Students break up into different ensembles on Fridays and work on projects that focus on dance , theater or music . Jacqueline ’ s favorite school memory is getting to make costumes with the theater class during one of those Friday ensembles .
“ There ’ s a lot of creativity at the
Academy ,” she said . “ The learning experience is very fun .”
Students in grades three and four can apply to attend the Kenneth Davis Fine Arts Academy , and it ’ s only one of two elementary schools in the district offering this unique experience . The application window opens Dec . 18 and closes on Jan . 26 .
