DISTRICT CELEBRATES SCHOOL BOARD RECOGNITION MONTH

The Mansfield ISD community celebrated School Board Recognition Month throughout January to honor trustees for their year-round contributions to the district .

Seven campuses adopted a board member and hosted an event in their honor . Additionally , trustees were celebrated with student artwork , a recognition video , a meal prepared by the Ben Barber Innovation Academy culinary arts students and a special performance from high school orchestra musicians before and during the Jan . 24 board meeting .
“ I am grateful to work alongside these amazing advocates for our students and staff ,” said Superintendent Dr . Kimberley Cantu . “ With every decision , our school board keeps Mansfield ISD ’ s mission , vision , values , and our Vision 2030 strategic plan in mind to make sure our students are life , career and college ready .”
“ I think that board members have had a great impact on our community and on our schools ,” said Emily Trotter , teacher at Mary Lillard Intermediate School . “ I think that they are here to listen to us as teachers and as parents .”
Board members are elected to establish policies that support the district ’ s mission and vision . They oversee the management of the school district and ensure financial accountability .
The members of the Mansfield ISD school board are :

The theme for Board Recognition Month this year is ‘ Forward , Together ’ which highlights the collaboration among school leadership , teachers and parents on behalf of students .
“ We are so thankful for our school board and everything they do for MISD ,” said Thelma Foster , Carol Holt Elementary School principal . “ For all the hours they spend helping make sure that our district runs smoothly .”
