TWO BOARD SEATS ON BALLOT FOR MAY ELECTION
Two seats on the Mansfield ISD Board of Trustees are on the ballot for the May Election . The seats for re-election are Place 6 and Place 7 .
The candidates for Place 6 are Dustin McDonald , Quintin V . Huckaby , Anne Weydeck and Benita Reed .
The Place 7 seat has a lone candidate , Courtney Lackey Wilson .
School board members are locally elected representatives of the public and serve as the community ’ s advocate for public education . They must maintain a focus on student achievement and well-being while making decisions that represent the interests of its constituents .
A general election will be held for both seats , which have a three-year term .
Early voting will be held from April 24 through May 2 . Election Day is Saturday , May 6 .
History was made at the 2023 UIL 6A Swimming and Diving State Meet in February .
Mansfield High School junior Elise Clift is the first female state swim champion in the district . She earned a gold medal in the 200- yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.44 , and gold in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:46.20 .

SWIM ATHLETE MAKES DISTRICT HISTORY
School Lady Tigers took third at the Feb . 18 competition and brought home five medals .
Elise Clift , Gracie Walker , Katie Walker , and Natalie Do earned bronze medals in the 200-yard medley relay and silver medals in the 400-yard freestyle relay .
Katie Walker earned a silver medal in the 100-yard butterfly .
In total , Mansfield ISD sent 25 swim athletes to the state competition .
