TWO TOP SCHOLARS RECEIVE NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS

The National Merit Scholarship Program is one of the most respected academic competitions in the country. It takes strong grades, a detailed application, and a lot of hard work to earn a scholarship.

Finalists are picked by a committee of college admissions officers and high school counselors. They review academic records; preliminary SAT and National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test scores; activities inside and outside of school; a student-written essay; and a recommendation from a school official. title of national merit scholar and will receive part of nearly $ 26 million in college scholarships.
This year, two Mansfield ISD seniors received national merit $ 2,500 scholarships: Christopher M. Do from Lake Ridge High School and Kaitlyn M. Ferguson from Frontier STEM Academy.
A huge congratulations to both students!
The 2025 program started in October 2023, when high school juniors took the PSAT / NMSQT. This test is the first step in the competition. Last fall, the top-scoring students in each state— less than 1 % of U. S. high school seniors— were named semifinalists. More than 16,000 students moved on to the next round.
From that group, over 15,000 students met the tough requirements to become finalists. By the end of the program, more than 6,930 students will have earned the
