MANSFIELD ISD CROWNS A NEW SPELLING CHAMPION

Every student who participated in

Mansfield ISD’ s Feb. 7 spelling bee was a prodigious speller. Held at the Dr. Jim Vaszauskas Center for the Performing Arts, students from across the district gathered to compete in a friendly yet intense competition. The event featured nine rounds of competitive spelling, with seven students returning after competing at both the campus and district levels in previous years.
Among them was Robert Fisher, a two-time reigning champion from Rogene Worley Middle School.
Shreyanshi Prasai, a seventh-grader at Charlene McKinzey Middle School,
“ Prodigious— can you use it in a sentence?”“ The student was a prodigious speller.”“ Prodigious. P-R-O-D-I-G-I-O-U-S. Prodigious.”
was named district champion after correctly spelling bowsprit.
“ It’ s really exciting because it’ s such a fun experience to go to different places, spell and learn new words,” Prasai said.“ I’ m really excited to represent Charlene McKinzey at regionals.”
Next, Prasai advanced to the Fort Worth Regional Spelling Bee, hosted by Visit Fort Worth and the Fort Worth Public Library. Competing on Saturday, March 29, she made it to Round 5, excelling at every word she spelled.
Congratulations to all district spellers and to Prasai for representing Mansfield ISD at the regional finals.
