MISD STUDENT-ATHLETES SEAL THEIR FUTURE
More than 90 student-athletes from five Mansfield ISD high schools, along with parents and friends, gathered at the Dr.
Jim Vaszauskas Center for the Performing Arts on Feb. 5, to celebrate National Signing Day. This annual event in Texas marks the moment when high school seniors officially sign their National Letters of Intent to compete at the collegiate level.
For these athletes, Signing Day is more than just a ceremony— it represents years of dedication, hard work, and achievement. It is the first day they can sign a binding agreement with an NCAA school, solidifying their commitment to the next chapter of their athletic careers. The occasion is a symbol of their perseverance and passion for their respective sports, bringing excitement as they prepare to continue competing at the collegiate level.
“ It’ s an exciting day. It’ s a way to look back on a kid’ s path up to this point,” said Executive Director of Athletics Jerod Womack.“ To be able to reflect on what got these kids here and the hard work they put into not only their athletics but also their academics— because that’ s what allows them to continue playing the sports they love.”
Tristan Vo’ a, who signed to play football at West Texas A & M, echoed the sentiment.“ It’ s really rewarding because you work for this for so long, and it’ s nice to know that your hard work has really paid off. You’ re actually going to continue to play, and it’ s not over yet.”
