degrees to become reading specialists , graduating from the University of Texas at Arlington the same year both their daughters graduated kindergarten .
“ We are always communicating about ways to help our students . At one time we were both first grade teachers in the district , so we talked a lot . Now we are both reading specialists and can do the same by sharing ideas and strategies ,” Mathews said .

COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS SLATED FOR ’ 23- ’ 24 SCHOOL YEAR

In an effort to continue promoting more two-way conversations between the Mansfield ISD School Board and the community , the MISD Board of Trustees will host community conversation meetings for the 2023-24 school year .

At these meetings , there will be opportunities for the public to address members of the school board with questions or concerns and receive direct feedback .
Superintendent Dr . Kimberley Cantu will also be in attendance to address
questions .
Meetings will be held at different locations around the district to provide multiple opportunities for community engagement . The first community conversation will occur on Thursday , Oct . 5 , at Vernon Newsom Stadium , 3700 East Broad , Mansfield , TX 76063 .

Stapleton is currently an itinerant reading specialist for the district and Mathews is a reading specialist at Mary Jo Sheppard Elementary School . What ’ s more , their current supervisor , dyslexia coordinator Staci Buck , was once the sisters ’ NJHS sponsor at T . A . Howard .
It seems that Mansfield ISD is incorporated into almost every aspect of their lives . Their daughters attend MISD schools , they share the same group of friends they ’ ve had since fifth grade at Cross Timbers Intermediate School , and they ’ re proud to say their sister-in-law also works in MISD .
“ Mansfield ISD raised us to be great students , educators and leaders ,” Mathews said . “ We are already seeing our girls have the same opportunities to grow as students and leaders .”
“ I can truly say I love what I do ,” Stapleton said . “ We are both MISD proud .”

TRANSPORTATION DISPATCHER DRIVEN BY DESIRE TO HELP

Pouncy considers the Mansfield ISD transportation department his second home and his coworkers his second family .
“ I see myself leaving home to go to my other home when I go to work ,” he said .
Pouncy began working for the district as a bus driver . He quickly became a dispatcher where he continues to serve families . On his last day as a driver , students and families gave him cards and gifts . He was surprised .
“ I didn ’ t realize the impact I had on families ,“ Pouncy said .
Pouncy enjoys building connections and helping others grow , which are key to the success he ’ s had in his career .
“ That ‘ hello ’ could be the highlight of their day ,” he said .
Pouncy is in Mansfield ISD for the long haul . He agrees that this is a great place to live , learn and teach .
“ I love being here ,” Pouncy said . “ I don ’ t see myself going anywhere . I wouldn ’ t change it for the world .”
