New this year, Mansfield ISD partnered with the City of Mansfield and many other local entities to participate in the
city’s first Veterans Day parade.
Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) cadets from each traditional high school marched in the parade along
with the Legacy High School and Mansfield High School bands.
Actions and words may never be enough to repay the sacrifices paid by our nation’s veterans, but Mansfield ISD was
privileged to serve the men and women who have spent their lives serving us.

for veterans.
Anna Daulton Elementary School honored Veterans with its annual program,
and attendees were given refreshments afterward.
very year, Mansfield ISD is proud to honor the men and women who served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
Veterans Day is a federal holiday celebrated annually on Nov. 11, and several MISD campuses rolled out the red
carpet for military men and women through various events as a token of appreciation.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, and parent of four MISD students, fought back tears as he was describing his favorite part
of the school’s Veterans Day program.
“I don’t want to be emotional about it, but that’s how I feel when I see those kids out there singing and saying ‘thank
you,’” said Nana Atkens.
Sheppard Elementary School’s event featured boy scouts escorting veterans to their seats of honor, the singing of
patriotic songs, photo shoots and a breakfast. Many other campuses held similar programs.

Summit High School hosted a special event for veterans in its
