Congratulations to Our Student-Athletes for a Great Season
F
all sports have come to an end, but many Mansfield ISD high schools made school history for how far they were
able to go in the competition. Check out an overview of the accomplishments below.
Volleyball
The Lake Ridge Eagles soared into the fourth round of the playoffs, the
furthest the team has ever gone postseason. The season ended in the regional
tournament, but the ladies can still tout that they were bi-district, area and
regional quarterfinal champions.
Cross Country
Three MISD student-athletes competed with the best runners in the state
after top finishes in the regional meet. Lake Ridge High School’s Taylor
Hayes and Summit High School’s Lindsey Claude and Asa Rice ran in the
2016 UIL State Cross Country Meet. Hayes and Rice were also the individual
champions in the 10-5A district competition. Personal records were set in the
state race, and Rice finished in eighth place.
Football
Four MISD high school football teams made it to the playoffs:
The Legacy Broncos made school history by making it to the fourth round
of playoffs. The team finished second in district and eventually ended its
postseason run in the state quarterfinals.
The Mansfield Tigers clinched
another district championship for
the second straight year. In the playoffs, the team fell in the third round
after winning bi-district and area
championships.
Although the Lake Ridge Eagles finished fourth in district, the team won a bi-
district and area championship before losing in the third round of playoffs.
The Timberview Wolves made it to
the first round of playoffs, but was unfortunately knocked out of the running.
The football team secured a spot in the postseason by finishing third in
district.
